Blue Lotus, Tintin and Chang

Description

This image may be used as evidence for the claim that I can only do normal colors when it's fan art.

There was a new Tintin movie. I ended up seeing it. Then I dug up my old comics and reread them. And went to the library since I don't own most of them.
(Side note: An interesting thing about reading Tintin is how you can see the character development of the author, Hergé.)

The Blue Lotus was the first, and for a while the only Tintin comic album I owned as a kid.

Then my brain decided that BFF Tintin and Chang are friggin' adorable. Tintin looks really young in The Blue Lotus by the way, clearly younger than the ambiguously-young-maybe-adult-maybe-teenager 'classic' Tintin from later. He seems to have hit stealth puberty somewhere around Black Island.
And then when we see Chang again in Tibet he looks somewhat older than he did in Blue Lotus, so that he and Tintin would still look more-or-less the same age (whatevertheheck that is).
And that's about it with characters getting older in the Tintinverse. Presumably they're all immortals.

Aaaaaanyway I couldn't find too many fanworks that feature Chang and I want there to be those, so I had to do something about it so I tried drawing them and I'm not sure about the result but here it is. Leaving out the hat Tintin wore with that outfit was a deliberate thing since it covered up his hair tuft (NOOOO!)

Characters belong to Hergé/Moulinsart, this is unofficial fan art.

This is so absolutely beautiful! I love how you draw both of them! And it's true, there's not enough fanart of Chang out there.
